Indie Art Fair

Josh and I were able to get away for a night. It was because I was going to be doing an art show in Petaluma, and we didn't want to have to travel so early in the morning. All of the hotels were sold out because of a drag racing event...and this was the last place we found a room. Called the METRO, it was so cute and quirky. It is a 140 year old farmhouse, restored with a modern french style. Everything was Paris themed, which I told Josh was a sign we should still try to move to France for two years.

We went and got ice cream, and then went to this HUGE candy store which had everything from Razzles to any kind of Pezz dispenser you could imagine. We seriously thought about going to see Batman, but I was worried about being tired the next day.

We got Kadie a Kung Fu Panda Pezz dispenser, and Laney a Shrek one. I still wish I would have got some Razzles.

Despite the fact that I did so well at my art show earlier this month, this one was a BOMB. I should have known better, since it was and "Indie" art fair, at a Phoenix theater, set up with the name Running with Scissors, and it was the first year.

Here was my set up:

To say the least...I didn't fit in. AT ALL! This is what other people were selling.

Notice the Lovely graffiti on the walls. What you don't see are the scuzzy couches and chair all ripped up and graffitied on as well all over the room. I totally forgot my pacifier and a black light. If you can see, the table is sort of a "day of the dead" type of skull that were all painted in fluorescent colors.

This was a lovely lady I met who went by the nickname of Mrs. Evils. Her craft was re-inventing the barbie doll as a "My little Zombie" doll for collection. I think she has a myspace page if any of you are interested for Christmas or birthday presents.

Happy Birthday Nick-Josh

Can you believe it? My brothers are TEENAGERS! I still think of them as 4 years old, which is younger than Kadie is now. It has been so much fun to live close to them and continue to watch them grow up. They are such great Uncle's to Kadie and Laney, despite the fact that Kadie and Laney have ruined many of their creations. I love how brutally honest Josh is, and how Nick already lifts weights.

They have been building and creating things since they learned how to draw a turtle on blue's clues when they were only 18 months. I am totally serious. As adults - I imagine them being computer programers, architects, or something that requires that they have the need to create.

For any of you who don't know them...Nick is in the red, which has basically been his signature color since he was born, and Josh is on the left (his color is blue...but he isn't wearing it).

Utah Trip...Second Half

For the last few days we were in Utah, we stayed with my mom's parents, Grandma and Paco. It was so much fun going back to places I spent so much time as a kid. Almost the first thing we did was go out and jump on the "tramp".

We had a fun family barbecue, and I saw cousins I hadn't seen for years it seemed. It was great fun!, and Kadie and Laney loved having some cousins to play with.

The next day, we went down to my mom's sister A 's place. She commissioned me to do a painting for her front room, and it turned out so awesome and colorful!

Her little Cole entertained us by, 1). showing us his lizard, 2) catching a butterfly in the yard, and then 3) feeding the butterfly to his lizard! Kadie and Laney got a kick out of it.

It is a fun summer memory watching the humming birds drink sugar water outside the front window. I loved having the girls get excited about it this year!

The next day we went up to the "P". Or the "peep" as Laney called it. Any of you who have been to Alpine may have seen it. It has been there since I can remember, the letter of my mom's last name. It lays on the hill, bright white and standing for all of the hard work my great grandparents and grandparents put into their farm and land. Of course, it doubles as a slide!

Everyone wanted to try on Paco's hat. Check out these cowgirls...and cowboy.

Grandma was so nice to get Kadie an early birthday present for her upcoming 6th birthday! A little horse from Cabela's that Kadie named Spot. Kadie requested a cape, so grandma just whipped up a little cape and saddle in her sewing room. Kadie even put earrings in her horse's ears! Thank you for letting us stay Grandma and Paco! We had so much fun and miss you already!

We went the last day and saw my Dad's parents. They are the cutest little couple ever. I just love my grandma Laney's information on the entire family. I don't know how she keeps it straight with so many grand kids and great grand kids. They will be out this next weekend to California to visit, and we can't wait to spend more time with them!

My Melissa...

My most favorite roommate in the whole world was in Utah at the same time as us. She was sadly there for her grandma's funeral.

We just met at the park in between us staying with Stefanie and leaving to go stay with my grandparents. We didn't get to see each other for long, and it had been about 3 years since we last saw each other. I forever wish that I lived closer to Melissa...she is like a soul mate of a friend. I can do retarded silly voices around her, and she does them right back. She gives good advice, and every time we talk on the phone, I laugh and just miss her.

I still remember the first time we met. I decided I better snatch up her as my roommate because she was so nice and made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because I was crying when my dad left. I hadn't met any of the other girls. I was so glad that we got to room together, she was the dream roommate!

Here we are with our kids...her and her little girl Chloe and me, Kadie and Laney.

Utah trip...first half

First of all...look what I got. It is actually an "early" birthday present. My art show apparently impressed Josh enough to go out and purchase this for me so that I can actually know HOW TO USE IT by the time my birthday comes. I got some good practice in Utah, but I have a long way to go to learn all of the cool facts and tricks. I LOVE my new camera. Beware of lots of pictures.
We stayed the first half of our trip with Josh's beautiful sis Stefanie. She was such an awesome host! She has such a cute house in South Jordan, and it was so much fun to spend time with her and her hubby Justin. We miss you already Stef!
I love how in Utah you can be at one corner with a huge shopping center, and just blocks away is an Elk Farm. This was just around the corner from Stef's. We sort of freaked out when Kadie tried to reach through and touch the antlers of one of them when it started to jump up off of the ground. I think we scared Laney more than the Elk.

We had a family barbecue, which was really fun. It is so hard to get to see everyone, and it was awesome to see aunt's, uncle's, cousins and grandma with the white hair, (as Kadie calls her).

Debbie and Josh's brother Spencer are always a lot of fun to see. We can't wait until they move to San Diego so that they are closer! Spencer is always claimed by Laney before he even arrives. The funniest thing is that Laney calls them both "Debbie". Poor Spence sacrificed this shirt playing with Laney. She bit right through it.

Spencer's new favorite toy...the I-phone. Laney's forever favorite treat...Ice Cream.

Josh's grandma Toni with Jake and Andrea's baby Morgan. Morgan is grandma Toni's maiden name. I love this picture, so sweet.

Ice cream, yet again.

Since the guys went golfing...a couple of times. Us girls went and got prettied up. I think that Kadie SORT OF enjoyed her first mani-pedi!

We had another family game and food night with the Waldron-Morgan clan. It was like a party the whole three days we were there. I will send you the pics Deb!

Debbie has just about the same camera that I do. So we had a little "photo session" with Morgan. I think she liked the bowl don't you?

What a cutie pie!

The last day we were able to go to Josh's aunt Cinda's office. She was so nice to buy the girl's a Hawaiian Ice down the road. The girls had a blast playing with the awesome toys at her work. Thanks Cinda!

It was so much fun to see all of you! Thanks for spending your days with us. We miss you every day, and can't wait to see you all soon!
