Oh no they didn't!

Anthropologie now has a kids section.
What is next? We already have Crewcuts too,
I think I am mad!
It just isn't fair to put cute things on the internet that I really can't afford.

Feeling sick? STAY HOME!

This is posted on our school website. I say read it, follow it and extend it from a school perspective to a church perspective. If you are sick or just getting over being sick, just stay at home. I know it is hard to just take a sick day, but I promise no one will think you are inactive or lazy if you don't come to church with green boogers and a hacking cough. More people will thank you for keeping the germs away from their kids.

A Note from the SRVUSD Health Educators/ School Nurses
Concerns about the flu this season may be heightened due to the influenza virus identified as
H1N1. This strain of the influenza virus was first identified in people in April of this year. The
flu, whether identified as H1N1 or not, is an illness we can take measures to prevent spreading.
The H1N1 virus is spread the same way seasonal flu is spread. Viruses are spread mainly from
person to person by coughing or sneezing by people who are sick. Sometimes people can be
infected by touching something, such as a surface or object with flu virus on it, then touching
their mouth or nose.
Your student may have another illness with symptoms such as a low-grade fever, complaints of
sore throat, congestion or cough, or stomach symptoms. These may be viral in nature, but are still
contagious. Sending your child to school when ill increases the risk of spreading the infection to
other students and staff. If your child becomes ill at school, we will check his/her temperature. A
child with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher orally will be sent home.
If your child has been out ill with a fever, please adhere to the following guidelines when
deciding if your child is well enough to return to school:
• A fever is defined as an oral temperature of 100 degrees or an axillary (armpit)
temperature of 99 degrees. A fever is lowest in the morning hours, begins to increase in
the afternoon, and is at its highest in the evening. When a child begins to recover, the
temperature could be normal in the morning, but may still be present in the afternoon.
• The presence of other symptoms warrants keeping your child home an additional day.
These include: coughing, nasal congestion, low energy level, vomiting, diarrhea or
stomachache.
Preventative measures we can take to minimize the transmission of germs are:
1. Handwashing- Use soap and water and wash for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water
are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
2. Cover your mouth and nose with tissues (or into the crook of your elbow) when
coughing or sneezing.
3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
4. Avoid sharing drinks, water bottles, silverware, and pencils.
5. If you are sick, stay home!
If you become sick, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that you stay
home for at least 24 hours after your fever has gone. This means you should be fever-free
without the use of fever reducing medicines such as Tylenol or Advil/Motrin/ Ibuprofen for
24 hours before you return to school.
If you see your doctor for flu symptoms, an antiviral medication may be prescribed
(TAMIFLU); however this must be taken within the first 24-48 of the onset of illness.
Another preventative measure against the flu is getting a flu vaccine. Maintain good hygiene
practices as noted above. Rest and drink plenty of fluids.
In our busy and sometimes stressful lives, remember the benefits of a good night’s sleep
and healthy meals!
Keep washing your hands and stay well.

Crew...7 months!

Our little Crew used to be as small as his teddy bear...

Now he is twice as big! And boy can he move...

Drooooooooooooool is definitely apparent. Teeth are a comin'!

His chubby little legs don't stop moving either! Kick kick kick!

What we love about Crew at 7 months...

The open mouth breathing. He sounds like a puppy.
He does push-ups with his hands and toes on the floor and his bum way up.
He loves to run his baby fingers through hair.
He smiles every time we look at him.
His little legs never stop kicking.
When he gets "shy" he throws himself into your neck and shoulder to snuggle.
He is soooooo ticklish.
His head is too big to fit most shirts over.
He always grabs your cheeks and pulls you in for a slobber kiss.
He doesn't like to be left alone. He will yell about it.

Only 5 more months until the big 1 (gasp)!

Shelter Cove Part II

We usually only get one full day in Shelter Cove. But since Josh finally had some PTO saved up since starting at GROCO, we decided to take an extra day.

We could still hear the waves all night while we slept.

The last time we came, the famous fish and chips joint by the lighthouse had burnt down and was under construction. We finally got to eat lunch there with the kids.
Laney and Kadie both tried and LOVED the food. :)

I have said it before and I will say it again. My favorite thing about Shelter Cove is that it is away from everything. You can't even get any cell reception. You are forced away from the TV and computer to just explore and spend time together.

This picture of me and Crew is to prove I was actually in Shelter Cove. :)

Here is a picture of the BlueRidge house in progress.

TREASURE HUNT!!!
Morgan and Cade put together a real treasure hunt.
The girls followed a map and clues to find Barnacle Beard's treasure matey!
We even got them to say "Argghhh...whars mee booty"!

Laney's favorite item from the treasure...

We took the long drive home and got some more pictures of the waves up close.
I was probably 200 feet away from the cliff and I was getting sprayed with mist
while I took pictures.

The End!
I hope we get back there again soon!

Shelter Cove - Long time no sea...

It had been about 5 months since we last went to Shelter Cove! We were missing it, so we took Friday for ourselves (no work or school) and headed up last weekend to hang out by the sea. :)

Friday November 6th

TEA PARTY!!!
Kadie's favorite...
Especially when paired with REAL tea cups and
home made Madeleine's from aunt Morgan.

We asked the deer to join us but they declined.
Something about not being able to hold the tea cups with their hooves?
Whatever.

Kadie poured the tea with no spills!

We showed the girls how to keep their pinkies in the air.

Construction Project
Next we were off to the housing project on Blue Ridge drive.
Crew was loving being outside so much despite the colder weather.

Kadie met a dog named Zach. Now she wants a Doxie puppy for Christmas.
Dad said no. :(

Laney found a box to sleep in.

Here is the project manager himself!

Morgan and Cade got a sweet deal as newlyweds to live in the Shaker house while the BlueRidge house is being built. This is Cade way up on the rooftop!
Can I go back in time and live by the beach while my hubby works minutes away?

Crew showed off his balancing skills to grandpa...

BEACH
Next we were off to the beach!
Luckily the rain in the forecast subsided for most of our trip,
But there was a surf advisory that record breaking waves of 26-28 feet would be seen!
It was fun to see the waves and feel a little splash now and then.

Morgan and Laney got chased down by a sneaky wave.

Laney found the usual weird things. No crabs or starfish this time around.
The tide pools were absent due to the large waves and high tide.

We ended the night with Chocolate Chip cookies and a movie. :)
