Bleeding Love

I know that this is cheesy. I am posting about a choreographed dance from a reality TV show. So What? I just love So You think You Can Dance. It makes me feel like I was supposed to be a dancer...in another life.

The dance by Chelsie and Mark really was my favorite, not just because they danced it well, or because I love the song. But it really moved me. I felt like it was a dance describing our life for the last 5 years. The struggle between work and family, or work and love. I loved everything about the whole dance, but I could totally see myself in her when she threw her "tantrum" while he was walking around her. I remember so many times throwing my own tantrum when things were really busy. Finally we are at a stage where things are so much better, and WAY more flexible.

So Josh, yes this is probably embarrassing to you, but I am dedicating this dance to you because you have worked so hard, and come so far. I am more proud of you than I have ever been. Thank you for making me and our family first when I know it is hard to do it.

I'm a Chubby Girl

Laney is at the stage where everything is "mine"! If you tell her she has a cute shirt she will say "no, my shirt". If you tell her to eat her sandwich she will say "no, my sandwich". I don't know why she thinks everyone is out to get her. She also copies everything that Kadie says, and it sort of drives Kadie...uh...nuts.

Kadie was getting so upset one day, I told her to try saying something funny and see if Laney copied her. She pointed to herself and told Laney "I'm a chubby girl." and sure enough, Laney yelled back, "No! I chubby girl!"

Discovery Kingdom

This will definitely keep us busy this summer. We bought season passes to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Josh took the whole week off last week, so we went! Twice!

First Day Trip:

We stopped at McD's on the way, and this little baby bird landed on our window right in front of me. That never happens right? Weird.

The cool thing about Discovery Kingdom that many of you may not know is that it is Sea World + Zoo + Theme park all in one. The only thing it is missing is the Disney Princess stuff. So we went and saw tigers, lions, dolphins, whales, sharks, birds. The girls couldn't get enough!

There were even a lot of little rides that Kadie and Laney were able to go on together. (What you can't see is that I am in the back seat with my knees up to my chest).

I think that this picture sums up how much it wore the girls out. :)

Second Day Trip:

The second day we went, we took my brothers. So to give Josh a chance to test his manly fear factor abilities on some coaster rides, I took the girls to see the Shouka show (killer whale). I think Laney was more interested in making sure that she drank ALL that there was to drink.

I couldn't figure it out. Every other two year old at the park was terrified of these huge stuffed animals walking all over the place. Laney wanted to hug each and every one of them AND get her picture with them.

Shnick and Snosh with the girlies...I don't know why we call then that? Anyone, anyone?

No this is not inside the Shark Attack tunnel, this is actually in the Butterfly garden, and yes...Laney was terrified of all of the "fuh-fwies" flying around.

Kadie, Daddy Josh, and Nick & Josh went on the water rapids ride...so I took Laney to the playground. She was upset that I even attempted to make her get ON to the water rapids ride (hey she was tall enough!). So it took her a little while to warm up to the idea of getting wet, even if it was somewhere less questionable and with other children all soaked from head to foot.

She warmed right up, and even made a performance out of it!

Shelter Cove: Episode 2

We went to my parents' cabin again last weekend. (June14-16). I have decided to post these trips as "episodes" because so much happened this last time.
Day 1: Golfing
After we got to Shelter Cove Saturday, Josh, my Dad and the boys decided to go golfing. The golf course is a small 9-hole course right along the shore next to the town's airstrip. You don't have to call ahead either, you just take your $10.00 and put it in the wooden box and you can golf as long as you want. Apparently 9 holes was too long. After the 7th hole, Josh (my brother) got whacked in the head by Nick. I have no hope that there is any safe sport now. They had to rush him home where my mom did minor surgery with liquid stitches. (super glue).

It wasn't all bad, Josh got spoon fed by me and Kadie while he played his Nintendo D.S.

That night Big Josh did a little "birding" off of the deck.
Day 2: No Church? Let's hit the Beach.
On Sunday we really tried to make it to church on time. It was Father's Day. Big Josh stayed at the cabin with Kadie because she was sick, and the rest of us high-tailed it on the twirly 45 minute road trip to the branch building. Alex was sitting in the way back not feeling so hot...so when we got there to discover that there was no church that day, this is how she looked.

Morgan got a kick out of the "Visitors Welcome" sign. Laney was bummed, the branch only has about 20 people that come regularly, and really no children. I think she wanted the nursery all to herself.

The Beach
We found the regular crabs and starfish, but also some new friends. Big Josh and Morgan hiked over some rocks to get some snap shots of the deer grazing along the waters edge and some fat seals living it up in the waves.

Laney was proud of her "baby frock" (little rock) that she found and took care of.

Nick and Josh made up after the golfing episode and had fun exploring the shore.

Day 3: First Time Fishing

Kadie was able to go fishing for the first time this trip. The guy at the bait shop told us that the best fishing that morning would be right off of the boat dock. I really didn't think anyone would catch a thing.

Wait a minute, what is going on? Is that Josh and Kadie reeling something in? "It's Probably just some seaweed" Dad told Kadie. Look a little closer...that is the Perch that Kadie caught!

While Josh was getting the hook out, Kadie's fish had a few baby fish! It actually grossed me out a little, but was interesting to learn that Perch are one of the only fish that actually birth their little fishy babies live.

Being the sensitive girl that she is, Kadie spent about 10 minutes crying because she felt bad for the baby fish. Then she decided to feed the mama fish some squid and then put the babies out to sea.

Here is another Fish that Josh caught, it looked bigger in person, I swear!

Laney didn't catch anything, but she had fun holding the rod.

That's all Folks! Until next time for episode three!

Congratulations Graduates!

Today my little sister Alex graduates from High School which makes me feel so old! Alex was the youngest in the family for so long before Nick and Josh were born. I remember so much about her as a baby and little kid. What an exciting week! Good job Axie! We love you and we will miss you up at college!

Watch out for potato farmers...can you guess where she is going?

I can't believe it, but Kadie graduated from Preschool June 11th. She has grown up so much this last year, and she is very excited to start Kindergarten. Cheers to two years with her awesome teacher Miss Lori! Below is a cute song that her class performed the last day of school for the parents.

Baby Girl Waldron

We are still wondering "what's her name?, what's her name?" But for now at least we can see that she is adorable...even though we are hundreds of miles away. Josh's Brother Jake and his wife Andrea, just had their first baby. A little girl born June 11 (I love odd numbers) weighing in at 6 lbs 12 oz and 19 inches long. The same measurements as Laney...this is making me want another baby!

She is so cute Jake and Andrea...and we are so excited to see you guys in August. Congratulations! We can't wait to find out what her name is...Kadie says to name her "sparkles".
Debbie will you bring your awesome camera next time you come and take some pictures of us?

Dental Diaries

I totally forgot to post this. But the last week of May, Kadie had a dentist appointment. Dental offices have definitely climbed mountains since my time as a child, terrified to climb into the huge seat and be poked and scraped. I think Kadie actually had a good time, and got to watch "Ice Age" while her mouth was being cleaned! I think I am going to start going to to the pediatric dentist instead of the boring and scary adult one!

The hygienist finished and said, "Well, I am going to let the dentist clean her bottom two front teeth herself because they are so wiggly I am afraid I will wiggle them right out!". Kadie asked everything about the tooth fairy on the way home...I didn't know many of the answers, except that the tooth fairy likes to paint and make jewelry on the side. "Oh, kind of like you huh mama," Kadie said.

9 reasons not to do yoga

At our climbing night, my poor sister Kylie didn't get to show us her skills with a bun in the oven and all. So, as us Laney girls often do...we found something in the gym we could make fun of. This amazing poster of yoga positions had us laughing so hard...I just had to share these with everyone.
There were so many ridiculous pictures, but these were definitely the top 9 reasons not to do yoga. I was going to do 5, but these are so funny. ( I do not take responsibility for making fun of people who do yoga. If you are offended...I would like to place blame on Kylie and my Mom).

1. Leg Stretched out Position

2. Squatting Position - The position you do when people are making fun of your yoga.

3. Flying Swan position...seriously? This position will be the reason they make a Will Ferrell movie about Yoga.

4. Lord of the Dance. See comment on number 3.

5. Scriptures Studying. We just though this was hilarious that they had to take a picture and put it on the poster of this.

6. Spinal Twist - Ouch!
7. Inverted Raised Tortoise Position - Double Ouch!!!

8. Wall Supported Headstand Position. Isn't this guy on the SYTYCD commercials?

9. Egyptian Position...I didn't realize that I have been doing yoga every day of my life since I could sit up! Sweet.

Climbing

Thanks to my awesome sister Morgan who works at a climbing gym we were able to go Monday night (June 2). It was a full family get-together. Even my sister Kylie and her hubby Mike came! Kylie was a party pooper and didn't even try. KIDDING KYKER~ She is prego. :)

Competitive Josh did the same route as me of course and proved he could climb faster. Whatever, He is 10 inches taller than me! He didn't have to reach for anything.

We even got a harness and teeny weeny climbing shoes on Laney. I think she was a little nervous here.

Here she goes....

Um...ya she didn't like that (lower left). But she gave us all Hi-5's after anyway.

Ultimately Laney just wanted to "pretend" to climb, with her feet securely on the floor.

Kadie did so great. She made it all the way to the top for the first time! She even used Morgan's "Monster" chalk bag for good luck and better grip.

Go Kadie, Go Kadie, Go Kadie, GO KADIE!!!

Nice headless shot of me (Leisa) climbing.

The gym playroom was the better place for the girls in the end.
