Thanksgiving program

Kadie's class had a special program that they performed for their 3rd grade buddies. Little did she know that we would be coming Friday for another impromptu celebration of her fellow kinders singing songs. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

Kadie was so excited to see Josh, Laney and I! Don't you love her Jack-o-lantern smile?

Even her Grammy and Grandpa Laney came.

Kadie was definitely one of the MOST ANIMATED performers on stage. I decided she is destined to be a star.

I tried to upload the video, but it is way too large...and I can't figure out how to edit it just yet. But here are some snap shots of her performance. :)

Laney Ballerina

When Kadie was little we tried everything. We did the mommy and me gymnastics and swimming. She did Ballet, and a little playschool. Poor Laney has been left in the dust with things like that. Partly because it is harder to go to things around Kadie's schedule, and partly because Laney is a little bit of a brute of a toddler. I have avoided putting her in different activities because I have to keep the tantrum throwing to a minimum to stay sane.

I finally bit the bullet, and realized that Laney has to get used to being away from me and out of the house. What better way than to try her out as a ballerina!?! So we started a combo class a couple of weeks ago. It is still kind of a rough transition...but she is slowly starting to like it.

The Play by Play of Ballet day 1:
(To be read in a 2-3 year old mentality)

"Oooh, dis is nOIsee! (clunk clunk, stomp stomp). Hey! das Yaney!!!"

"I done yike-a-dis. Ah my mom go?"

"Mama! P'yeeze yet me out!"

I think Laney liked it better from the other side of the glass the first day. Wish her luck in classes to come!

With Laney being the tom girl that she is, I think we might just try soccer next if ballet doesn't work out. I doubt she will have any separation anxiety with a ball to kick around.

Family Pictures

My friend Mandi, who is such an amazing portrait photographer offered to take pictures of our family last weekend. We went to Baker beach (where supposedly clothing is optional! - but it was too cold for that).

Here are some goodies from the fastest photo shoot in the world. The light was fading, Laney was screaming (You'll notice an absence of photo's of Laney) And yet, Mandi still got some amazing shots. :) Thank you Mandi!

The End!

Bye Bye www.thesilverloft.com

I am finally making the leap from my website to an Etsy shop. I will have both stores open for a limited time, but soon will be letting go of my thesilverloft-dot-com site. It is a sad day because I love how much fun I can have with the design. I love how flexible the site is, and that I can really make it my own. But it has been a crazy year.

It is also an exciting day to be able to open an Etsy store! My new web address is http://www.thesilverloft.etsy.com/. For those of you that don't know Etsy yet, you are in for a treat. Thousands of talented and artistic people who make their hobby a profession, and some that dabble in a little of everything and sell different items just to share their creativity with others.

Most of you may know already that I am expecting baby # 3! This move from dot-com to etsy-dot-com will make my life more simple so that I can keep up my jewelry endeavors when this tiny little person comes into my family's lives.

Thank you for all of your support, and don't forget to check out my Etsy store for some Grand re-opening prices for this Holiday season!Leisa Waldron

Another day...another lost tooth

When Kadie's class was walking toward us, I noticed it looked like she had something covering her front tooth. She was smiling so big, I thought that the kids must be playing a joke on their parents or something. But as I looked at the other children, I noticed that Kadie was the only one with a "missing tooth" which coincidentally really was missing!
The days of Kadie's 20 tooth grin are over. She will now only be showing 19 teeth with her cheesy little smile. She is so excited for the tooth fairy to come tonight!

Fun Run!

Kadie's school hosted it's annual FUN RUN on Wednesday November 5th. Each kid gets pledges from neighbors and friends, and some even get sponsors. The kids all commit to a certain number of laps and earn money for the school! I didn't know how large the "lap" would be, so when Kadie told me she wanted to do 16, I got worried. I coaxed her down to 4 after a few tries.
So, Josh and I pledged $4.00 per lap, figuring we could swing an extra $16 or $20 if she went the extra lap just for fun.
The race was off...Kadie screamed at the top of her lungs!

There she goes...

Obviously she is the glowing spot speeding through each photograph.

GO KADIE!!!!

Kadie did her 4 laps... and she just kept running!

She ran 10 laps total!

Congratulations to Coyote Creek school for the $40 you get from me and Josh. Not to mention the other $40 you get from Kadie's other pledges of $2.00 each. I am sure the school made some great money for the classroom libraries!

Fall has finally arrived!

Doesn't fall taste good? Laney thinks so, and she would know. She loves to eat.

Maybe fall got here a week or two ago, but so much has been going on with the election and school and Laney making messes that I almost missed my favorite crunchy yellow leaves on the ground! Every time I exit our complex these trees just make me sigh, they are so beautiful. And every time I have wanted to take pictures, the gardener comes and air-blows the leaves into a muslin sack and hauls them away. It is so sad.

I took advantage of the leaves finally, and it was so much fun. :) If I hadn't been so busy trying to take pictures, I may have thrown a few myself. Or jumped into a pile. I better do that next time...

The New Comfoltey Family

Isn't my sister's new little family so cute!

Take a look at this little doll!

Grammy and her new granddaughter. (Sorry mom, I know you don't like the silly face one, but it is totally your FUN personality. :)

Halloween at Grammy's House

Have I ever mentioned that Halloween is my FAVORITE Holiday? I love dressing up, the treats, the decorations. It has been my favorite since I was a kid. I can't wait until I have a house that I can spook out like crazy, and somewhere big enough to invite more than 3 people over without feeling crowded. This year was a little unplanned and unprepared for.

Trunk or Treat at the church: Laney wouldn't put on her costume, and I was tired and feeling fat so I sent Josh and Kadie. Kadie came home with a ton of candy for the "Pumpkin Fairy". This is a fairy that she overheard a friend of mine talking about. The fairy comes and takes her favorite treats and leaves you with something else like a coloring book. I had no idea Kadie was listening. We thought it was so cute that she embraced this idea, and would only eat a few pieces of her candy, that Josh and I put in a good word with the "Pumpkin Fairy" to bring her the new Tinkerbell movie.

Trick or Treating on Halloween: We planned on going to Blackhawk, a ritzy area that hands out huge candy bars, full family sized bags of m&m's, and sometimes even money! But I was so anxious to see my sister's tiny baby that it sort of changed plans. Again...Laney would NOT put on her costume. She figured she was getting all of the candy she needed I guess because we all just gave it to her when she asked in her cute little Chinese voice. So Josh, Grandpa, Uncle Nick and Uncle Josh and Kadie went around Orinda. Josh said that Kadie ran from house to house as fast as she could! When it came to the questionable homes with fog machines and spooky music, she waited for her Uncles who were Mr. Pepsi and a character from Super Mario, (made the costumes themselves!).

Even being unplanned and unprepared, we just went with the flow and everyone was happy! Especially me because I got to meet and hold and kiss and hold and squeeze and hold my new niece Skylar. :)

Halloween School Party

Kadie's class had a Halloween party last Friday. It was WAY more fun than I ever remember from growing up. She got to spend the entire day doing her favorite thing...making crafts! And the day ended with a big school parade that the high school band performed to. Poor Kadie looked so worried when I saw her. She knew the parade was almost over, and Laney and I were at the end. Her face had the most GIGANTIC smile on it when she saw us!
