Frosting Tummies and Crazy Hair

Josh's mom always sends the coolest packages for the girls. This year they both got Light up shirts that actually light up while you wear them. Kadie has worn her probably 10 times already, and I know the other mom's at school probably think I never wash her clothes. She only wears it when it is clean I swear! Kadie just knows as soon as it is in her drawer. :)

Well, the favorite thing Laney got? Frosting. We made the most adorable pumpkin cookies from a kit that Grandma sent. While I was in the other room (mistake - note: frosting on table). Laney helped herself. Kadie even warned me "Laney has the frosting!" but Josh called and I got talking to him, and then realized what I had heard just a few minutes before. (gasp) I ran into the front room and didn't see Laney by the frosting so I shrugged, but as I turned around I saw her sitting in front of the couch. She hadn't hardly even touched anything else but herself...so that was good.

This definitely wins favorite mess of the week!

On another note...this week is Red Ribbon week at school! The kids are learning what is good for their bodies and what is bad (drugs) and they get to do something fun each day. Today was crazy hair day. :) I just loved the 80's look Kadie was sporting at school.

At the Pumpkin Patch

This is a look of a very excited child!
Kadie had her Kindergarten field trip to the pumpkin patch today. It was so much fun to go along as a driver and watch her with her friends and classmates. They are a bunch of really great kids, and they obey their teacher so well.
The other two classes started off on the tour first, and our class was left to play in the "hay maze" and on the hay stacks until our turn. I think that the pumpkin patch employees really thought that the maze would take a bunch of kindergartner's 20 minutes. Too bad, they basically ran through the whole thing in about 10.2 seconds! But they made a fun recess out of the hay stacks anyway.
All of the kids got to learn about plants and how they grow and then plant their own Cauliflower plant too! We will have to plant ours up at Grammy's because supposedly the plant will get as big as a laundry basket, and we don't have a pot large enough in our Condo. :)
Next, the bee lady told us about the birds and the bee's! Just kidding,
She taught the kids about honey, and honey comb, and baby bee's and all of the compartments of a beehive. We all got a chance to try out being a bee for a few minutes.

The best part of the whole day? Picking out our pumpkins!!!
I thought that they kids were going to come home with one of those tomato-sized pumpkins, but no! Each of the 50 kids on the field trip was able to pick any pumpkin that they wanted! No matter how big or small! Kadie said hers was "just right".

I can't wait for the next field trip that I can go along on. I know these days are few and far between and it is so much fun to watch Kadie grow up and experience new things! A little sad that it has to happen so fast, but so much fun at the same time.

Tomorrow's Harvest

Many of you may have heard of this company http://www.tomorrowsharvest.org/ Maybe even from me! In case you haven't noticed, there seems to be a hurricane, earthquake, fire, or plunge in the stock market every day. If you don't have food storage, now might be the time to think about it.
Josh and I are hoping we might feel better about things once we are a little more prepared. This company is more modern, simple to prepare, great tasting, and much easier to store than your conventional food storage of wheat grinders, and multiple cans of grains.
Please take this chance to look at some of the products offered.
You can compare differences between the Kits as well as sign up for a free sample.
If you are interested and want to know more, I can put you in direct contact with the partner. I can answer many of your questions/concerns as well.

Pacific Grove

There is nothing like a fun-filled weekend with family and friends. October has been so busy with Josh's trips to Chicago, and my art shows happening that this was a much needed trip for all of us. :) Our fantastic friends the MacDonald's took us to Pacific Grove - Monterey for the weekend. It was packed full of fun times, but we still were able to relax a little too! How did that happen so well?

We started off the weekend with a brisk morning stroll to the beach. I love that Laney has a rock in one hand and a stick in the other...proof that she is our tom-girl. :)

Loralee and Troy took us to the Dennis the Menace park. Coolest park EVER! Tons to do and see. Trains, swings, bridges, slides, birds. Even the adults had fun, and everyone was worn out at the end. It was like a free Disneyland!

Ice cream from Ghiradelli was the perfect ending to the day.

This is definitely my favorite picture of the whole weekend. These four kids played together so well it was scary. Kadie and the boys are like the three musketeers.

Typical family picture. We hiked Point Lobos which was so beautiful and fun, but Laney was worn out at the end. I love it, Josh and Kadie with their confused smiles, while I try to coax Laney from screaming to get down. :)
Laney by - I am guessing the Whale Fin Bone? At a small Whalers village right at the base of the hike. They have a small cabin with artifacts and interesting stories to learn about the whalers from long ago.

I love sail boats. I have only been sailing two times, but someday I would love to have a boat of our own. So I took a picture of the marina. I am realizing now that I should have taken a picture of the AMAZING fish and chips and buffalo wings that I ate because that sounds so good to me right now, and a picture is better than nothing. Oh well.

Thank you Loralee and Troy for showing us a great time. We loved every minute!
