How Laney hangs with Grandpa

When there is too much silence, I usually go looking for Laney to make sure she is okay.
This time I think she had everything under control.

Just watching Spiderman with Grandpa while Grandpa took a little rest.

Crew... 10 Months ?!?!

I know I have posted this little picture way too often, but look how tiny he was. And now he towers over that bear! And attacks it! And tries to eat it! He is a growin' boy.

Also, I noticed that as a newborn he seemed to have olive skin, but that is gone now.
He is pasty white like his mama. :(

Like I have said before, Crew is good at making messes. His favorite is the lower cabinet with all of the plastic cups and bowls. Kadie loved the same thing when she was little.
He is getting quicker too. By the time I grabbed the camera and ran back to him the entire cupboard was emptied out!

See what I mean with the bear! He is so big now! Crew is, not the bear.

One of my favorite things he does now is kneel on his chubby little knee's.
Maybe he will walk on his knee's first before he walks. Laney did that.

He is still like a puppy. He will even fetch now, and carries his find in his mouth!

My next favorite thing. Crew will play now! He LOVES peek a boo like most babies do. But he laughs every time he "boo's".
The pictures are all fuzzy because he was peekin' and booin' way too fast!

Before I know it I will be posting his big boy 1 year!
Can't wait to show and tell what he learns next. :)

Laney's Birthday Festivities

On her actual day Laney was enjoying every minute of her birthday. We had been telling her that her birthday was after Christmas since Halloween. Naturally she was asking every day after Christmas "Is today my birthday?". I knew she was getting worried when she started saying, "We forgot my birthday!" once January hit.
But her day finally came!

All she wanted this year were "girl toys like Kadie". She got ponies, strawberry shortcake dolls, a barbie, and stickers...all girly as can be. She opened them up first thing.

Later while Kadie was at school just Laney and I made cupcakes.
Does anyone watch Medium? I know Kylie does. Is this not a Bridget face and action Kyk?

She wanted chocolate cupcakes with strawberry frosting.
We even used her cupcake papers and icing decorator she got for Christmas!
I might have had more fun doing that than her.

We didn't do a HUGE party for her this year. Just cupcakes at the park with bubbles and some friends. She had a blast, and after a few weeks of straight rain, it was so nice that her birthday showed some sunshine.

She made her usual Volcano in the sandpit, and a sand angel of course.
I didn't get a picture of that one :(
but I had plenty of sand in my car and the bathtub later to prove it.

Later we played a game she got. GUESS WHAT I AM. Sort of like guess who, except you hold a picture over your face and ask questions to the other players. Laney was so nice to tell us what we were right when we put our "face" on.

Here is Laney as a baby and Kadie as a kangaroo!

We sang happy birthday and the day was done! I still can't believe she is 4 years old.
Happy Birthday Laney, Lanes, Laney bug, Lanerz,!

Back in the {Painting} Saddle

This was a commissioned piece by my friend Shannon for a cook top mural in a house she is remodeling for her parents in Blackhawk. She wanted the same look as the one I did for my parent's home 6 years ago.

This is the first painting I have done since Crew was born and it felt so good to get everything out. I felt inspired and fulfilled for a moment when it was finished. Then I started getting more ideas and now my brain is full again!

I started on tumbled Travertine tiles.

First I added the background.

Then some grass and more shadows and depth to the trees and hills.

Vintage Olive jars were another request, and they turned out so great with all of the holes and tumbling in the tiles. Here is the start.

When I paint, I often paint objects in clusters and in odd numbered groupings. You will notice the number three a lot in my work Three vintage olive jars just found their way onto the art!

After contemplating, I decided to do away with the grass in the corner, it looked like hair.
I painted over it, and added a few trees.
The two Olive branches in the upper corner were the finishing touch!
This is sort of what it will look like once it is mounted on the cook top. Tiny spacings filled with grout in between. I can't wait to see it up and mounted and completely finished!

Thank you Shannon for getting me back to my art roots. Can't wait to see it!

Happy Birthday Laney!

I can't believe our baby girl is 4!
Some days I feel like she just skipped past her toddler years.
Then I remember this story or that and it all comes flooding back.
This last year Laney has really grown up.

She doesn't make as many messes. I feel like 4 years will be a turning point!
I am so glad that I own a camera so that I can show her all of her many messes that I have documented. :)

After 2 years she is almost completely potty trained.
This is her hiding and doing her "I don't want to poop" face.
I think she just likes pushing my buttons.

I feel like Laney will do great things someday.
She has a personality that is on fire 99% of the time.
She is a person that you will definitely want to meet someday if you have the chance.
If you already know her, well count yourself lucky!

Laney has become such a great older sister to Crew.
She calls him HER Crewser Boy.
She started off sharing with him when he was only a few weeks old!
I still get nervous leaving her alone with him in the room.
She picks him up and stashes him all over the house still.
But he is definitely warming up to her and laughs at almost every face she makes.

She is now the proud owner of a gecko. Sassy the gecko is the last "person" she wants to spend time with before she goes to sleep. It is so sweet to see her take care of a pet.
Not so sweet when she tries to set her free, but we are working on it!

Just the other day Laney showed me her two new tricks!
She is talented in that arena, and she has many up her sleeve.

I can't wait to see what new tricks she learns this year!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANEY!!!

We Love everything about you and we are so thankful to have you in our lives bringing us so much love and laughter every single day!

Love, Mom, Dad, Kadie and Crewser Boy

Pictures from Kelli Nicole

Had to save up for these, but I finally got them in the mail and I can't stop looking at them.
Kelli is so amazing, and even though my kids are not so photogenic...

Kadie was the DEFINITION of sass that day.

We still found some gems. :)

I will be getting these on my wall soon!
